The main purpose of fluid management is to ensure the surgical field is clear so surgeons can concentrate on their repairs. Just a few drops of blood can create severe “red outs” which add time and frustration for the arthroscopist. FMS fluid management systems offer unique features to help ensure optimal visibility.
| | FMS duo®+ |
 | Red Pedal “Lavage” ModeOne of the most critical aspects of arthroscopy is visualization, which is often obstructed by blood and debris. To alleviate this problem, the FMS duo®+ includes a red pedal “lavage” mode. Stepping on the pedal will activate an increase in both pressure and flow, which will control bleeding and clear the field of view. Once the cycle completes the FMS duo®+ will return to its previous settings. |
 | Blue Pedal “Flow” ModeTo increase flow without increasing pressure, step on the blue pedal. The suction pump will accelerate and the irrigation pump will immediately increase inflow to compensate for fluid loss. This feature is particularly useful in clearing debris and irrigation without pressure increase. |
 | Integrated Shaver SystemThe FMS duo®+ includes an integrated shaver console. When the shaver rotates, the pump automatically activates suction through the shaver and clamps off other suction ports. FMS can interface with other shavers to provide the same functionality. |
| | FMS solo® |
 | Red Pedal “Pressure Cycle”To control bleeding during surgery, activate the two-minute PRESSURE CYCLE by pressing on the red foot pedal or remote control. Once the pressure cycle is complete, the FMS solo® automatically returns to its pre-selected base pressure. |
 | Flow CompensationFMS solo® improves visualization by activating flow compensation whenever the shaver is in rotation. This decreases loss of distention associated with standard irrigation pumps. |
